Biofouling is the unwanted accumulation of microorganisms, plants, algae, barnacles and starfishes, causing the cable to increase in diameter and weight. With a special sheathing material, the settlement and growing process of these microorganisms is reduced. The material is suitable for sea water and fresh water, and can be used for flexible and fixed installed cables.
